On behalf of Dr.Wakefield and the MVS, there are several updates to be aware of:

1) Upcoming Michigan State Medical Society Annual Scientific Symposium, October 21-23. We are looking for volunteers. Topics have been selected to include: EVAR and Ruptured AAA, LE Revascularization with the new interventional techniques, Current status of carotid stenting, and techniques in vein ablation. If you or one of your colleagues is able to speak on these topics, that would be hugely appreciated. Contact me via email or through Carol Stryjecki, 248-551-9687. Deadline for submission is April.

2) MSMS is asking for nominations to its various committees. Dr. Wakefield can provide a list if you are interested. Participation on these committees can be rewarding and informative.

3) MSMS is asking for nominations for the National President Award. This award is presented to a MSMS physician member who is president of a national specialty society and the Flag award which is presented to a physician who has made numerous contributions to a non-medical state or national organization , but still in the health fields such as the Cancer Society/Heart Association.
